Hello there, and thank you for viewing my website. My name is Valerie O’Hanlon and I founded Clarence Consulting in 2014. Having worked for over 20 years in various industries from Media, Hospitality, Banking to Manufacturing and Education, I decided it was time for me to “Make a Difference” and start out on my own. My background and education is in Human Resources, however, I have had many career changes over the years and that helps to make me an ideal Career Coach. I believe very strongly in Life Long Learning and that it is never too late to start something new. In 2016, I was named ICF Ireland Career Coach of the Year.
Professional Coaching is an opportunity for individuals to find the resources within themselves to make a difference in their own lives. Coaching makes space from the hustle and bustle of life for you to focus on your own needs and helps you make a change. Whether it be Career, Life or Business Coaching, I can help you to make a difference to your life or your organisation.

These coaching sessions with Valerie were the best investment I have made in myself in a long time. She challenged me, helped me build my confidence back and assisted in building a plan towards my own success. I am now looking at my career and life with different eyes, filled with new ideas and options I couldn't have figured out alone. It is a liberating feeling to have a plan in place towards a career that will make me happy. I can't recommend her enough for anyone struggling to figure what the next best step is.
Valerie is a very genuine warm & caring lady. She is very professional & intent on providing an excellent service. I have already recommended her service to others & would strongly recommend that anyone considering seeing a career coach go & see Valerie.
From the first coaching session, Valerie was effective in helping me confront the reasons why I was in my current situation and help me identify my priorities and develop a plan that enabled me to stick to my priorities
I found the coaching sessions to be very beneficial and Valerie to be extremely professional in her coaching style. The sessions helped me to identify my own strengths and transferable skills along with areas I can improve on. The sessions have not only improved my attitude towards my current role but have also opened opportunities to areas outside my current role which I would have never considered. I would highly recommend Valerie to anyone considering or in need of career coaching.
Valerie is a seasoned professional who effectively guides people to achieve their own goals rather than dictating her views. She carefully selects tools and reflections that suit each individual and facilitates deeper understanding by providing a safe space to talk and listen without agenda. I highly recommend Valerie to anyone who needs clarity on what he/she wants to achieve in work/life or has a goal and needs some signposts along the way with encouragement to find a path and pace that is sensitive to his/her unique set of abilities and personal situation.
Valerie, I had a good result and was successful. I came no 1 on the panel.I found your session very helpful and it was a great help for me in preparing for interview. I have recommended you to some of my colleagues. Many thanks again.
Thank you Valerie for allowing me the space to discover not what I was missing in life but what I already had. Thank you for your support and your professionalism. You had a wonderful skill of helping me draw out the important information and I gained huge self-awareness from our sessions. Thank you.
Hi Valerie, I really believe that was the best money I have spent in years. I really took so much from the session, and left with a confidence found that had gone missing on me - and a new clarity on my skills and what I want from life and work.
Do you know what your Values are? You probably have a fair idea – family, friendship, happiness, fulfilment etc. But when was the last time you assessed whether you were being true to your core values and why is it important?
Though we know we have values and in the recesses of our minds we know what they are, we sometimes aren’t fully aligned with what is important to us. When this mis-alignment occurs, we become stressed, dissatisfied with our lot and generally a little bit miserable!
It appears to me that we have a new Season – The Job Interview Season. I have had quite a number of candidates call me for interview preparation over the last number of weeks. Some are Finance professionals, engineers, sales executives and quite a few are public sector employees. All have had different experiences in the interviews they attend.
As a Coach, I often hear from clients that they are lacking in confidence. This can be something that they always experience or something that they only experience in certain circumstances.
